mybrokenshelf.com (“the Site”) is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding that information. We designed this Site with privacy as a core value, particularly because the topics we cover — religious deconstruction, faith transitions, and religious trauma — are deeply personal.
The anonymous discussion board is designed so you can speak without being identified. We collect only:
We do not collect your name, email address, IP address, or any account information on the board. There is no login and no cookies tracking you. Standard web infrastructure may process connection data in transit, but we do not store or access it.
Therapists who apply to be listed in our directory submit professional information including their name, credentials, contact details, areas of specialty, and practice information. This information is used solely for directory listing purposes and is displayed publicly as part of the directory.
If you apply to volunteer or serve as a content reviewer, we collect the information you provide in your application. This information is used to evaluate your application and, if accepted, to coordinate your contributions.
We use Vercel Analytics and Vercel Speed Insights to understand how visitors use the Site. These services collect anonymized, aggregated usage data such as page views, referral sources, and general geographic region. This data cannot be used to identify individual users. Vercel Analytics does not use cookies and cannot track you across sessions or sites.
We also use Google Analytics 4 (GA4), which only loads after you explicitly click “Accept” on the consent banner. If you accept, GA4 collects page views, session duration, general geographic region, and device type. We use this data to understand which content is helpful. GA4 does not run on the anonymous discussion board.
You can revoke analytics consent at any time using the button below, which immediately clears all analytics cookies.
Analytics are not active. No Google cookies are set.
The Site uses only essential cookies required for basic functionality (such as session management). We do not use advertising cookies or retargeting technologies.
If you accept analytics, cookies are set by Google Analytics to distinguish unique visitors and track sessions. These cookies are only set after you explicitly consent. If you decline or revoke consent, no analytics cookies are set. You can revoke consent and clear analytics cookies from this page at any time.
Vercel Analytics operates without cookies and does not track individual users across sessions or sites.
We honor Global Privacy Control (GPC) signals sent by your browser.
We use the information we collect to:
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for their marketing purposes.
Site data is stored using Supabase, a secure, SOC 2 Type II compliant hosting provider. All data is transmitted over encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS). We implement reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect information from unauthorized access, alteration, or destruction.
No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure. While we strive to protect your information, we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Discussion board posts are retained indefinitely unless removed through moderation. Therapist directory listings remain active until the therapist requests removal. Volunteer and reviewer application data is retained for the duration of the relationship and a reasonable period thereafter.
Analytics data is retained in aggregated, anonymized form and cannot be linked to individual users.
